Garden City is a city in Ada County, Idaho, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,972. Garden City is largely surrounded by Boise but retains an independent city government.
Garden City is named for the gardens created by Chinese immigrants who lived in the area. The name of Chinden Boulevard, the city's only main street, is a portmanteau of the words "China" and "garden." During its 20 years in the 21st century, it became an artist's studio haven.
Garden City is part of the Boise metropolitan area.
